This is from one of the AdobePhotoshop challenges. This particular day we were playing with type along a path. Due to a glitch with the live stream, all I had to go on was a a pencil sketch of a banana from Jesus Ramirez. As I looked at the drawing, and realized I would have no help from the video, I pondered what I might be able to do with this drawing. Well, I started with coloring it and see where that took me. Knowing that we had to use type along a path for this challenge, I figured I need some sort of a poster or greeting card. Since I couldn't think of any greeting cards that would use a banana, and I know that bananas contain quite a bit of potassium, I thought maybe a public service announcement about the benefits of potassium might be the way to go.
I did a quick Internet search on the benefits of potassium because being away from teaching physiology for such a long time some of my memories are sketchy. Turns out, potassium benefits your brain, your bones, your heart, and your kidneys. I headed over to pixabay.com to see what I could find for organs. I found this great sketch of a heart shape with electro-cardiogram tracings right away. Now I had to find kidneys, brain, and bones to somehow match this 3-D heart. Well, as you can see, I found a nice black-and-white drawings of both a skeleton and a brain. Not so much luck with kidneys, however. Then, I headed over to adobe stock to see what they had. I found some nice neon blue drawings on a black background, but I just couldn't get them to settle in well with that banana drawing. So I went with three of the four benefits in my poster.
In addition to bananas, other foods rich in potassium are any type potatoes (especially with the skins on), oranges, spinach, tomatoes, winter squash (like butternut and acorn), and, oh happy day, chocolate.
Take care, stay well, and don't share your air. Have a wonderful week!
